We will briefly discuss the benefits of forest schools and how our program came to be. We will share with you what a "typical" day at Nature Kindergarten looks like and then you will become the children and get to explore and discover all the spaces our children use each day.

The St. Monica Story: A Journey to a Place of Wonder, Roots and Wings At St. Monica's School **Pre-Registration on Event Wizard**

This is a two-part session where 60 teachers we will be broken up into groups of 30. Each delegate will attend both sessions, switching half-way. 

Learn about the story of St. Monica School and the journey of staff and students toward a "one-of-a-kind" Early Learning School that has worked toward offering the highest quality Early Learning Environment that implements innovative Early Leaning teaching practices. There will be a presentation on our journey involving: school history, Reggio development, permeation of faith, study of wonder, the literacy plan and then explore space that include multi-age classrooms, AB ED Competencies, PBL and Project Blocks, Differentiation, Makerspace, Atelier, Dramatic Play and our outdoor Naturescape. Students will be in attendance and teachers will be teaching so you will observe the school "in action." There will also be opportunity for discussion and reflection with colleagues in attendance.

Combining the research of Richard Louv, in "The Last Child in the Woods" and authentic student led inquiry familiar to the Reggio model, are are taking curriculum outdoors. Come explore some of the provocations and natural learning in our Award winning Naturescape. Come dressed for outside and be ready to play!

Come prepared for an afternoon filled with curiosity, play and exploration! Learn ways to plan learning opportunities that allow for and encourage tinkering. Discover how intentionally teaching the design process through purposeful play that is student-led and authentic has helped students begin to develop a "tinkering mindset" which is beneficial to many aspects of their lives both in and out of school. Finally, spend some time exploring a variety of more than 40 high, low and no tech tinkerlab challenges designed to inspire students to wonder, explore, create and launch their learning into the world!
