Mindfulness and Self-Compassion as a Foundation
In this session, participants will learn about the benefits of a mindfulness practice, including self-compassion, and some of the research that supports this practice. All are invited to join in experiential practices, which can be integrated to our daily routine with some guidance. These practices might bring reflections such as: What would it be like if I can be fully present and stable in my most challenging moments? What if I am ready to learn without hesitation and doubt? Does the image I hold of myself make any difference in my capacity to wonder and co-imagine the possibilities with children and their families? Mindfulness helps us discover our patterns and self-compassion brings loving awareness to ourselves, lessening the identification with our inner critic. A stable educator, focused, aware and skilful with his/her own emotions is one that children feel secure in their relationship and is capable to play alongside with them.
