Kelly Klapstein is the author of The Art of Brush Lettering and the founder of Kelly Creates, a hand lettering and calligraphy product line manufactured by American Crafts, which is sold in craft and art supply stores around the world. Kelly attended the University of Alberta and has a B.Ed. with Distinction. She taught high school English and ESL for about 8 years in Edmonton and Ontario, then stayed home to raise her family while working part time as a private tutor and education consultant, while helping with the family business. Kelly began teaching paper crafting classes locally and then nationally about 8 years ago and has been writing and designing for Creative Scrapbooker magazine since 2011. Three years ago, Kelly discovered brush pens and began a journey of calligraphy, teaching herself the art of writing beautiful letters. She then launched an online business of teaching others via tracing worksheets that are digital downloads on her website KellyCreates.ca. Her Instagram @kellycreates now has over 600K followers, and she has been invited to teach brush lettering all over the world. When Kelly is not traveling and teaching workshops, she calls Edmonton home, has long walks with her dog Finn, drinks Earl Grey tea, and plays with watercolours.
